ORGANIC PRODUCTS
All the products on the farm are cultivated using only natural methods and formulas. In 1995 “Alle Camelie” was recognized by the Italian Organic Farming Association (AIAB) and then by ICEA, two organizations that certify organic production.
To be a certified producer of organic products involves greater commitment, not only from a financial point of view, but also in terms of devoting time and energy. Organic farming requires organic fertilizers and anti-parasitic treatments with natural products. To ensure the best results organically, very careful methods (and often different than conventional production methods) are employed during pruning, harvesting and storage of the olives.
The Orsi family is enthusiastic about its commitment to organic methods, as we believe that protection of the environment, respect for the consumer, and top quality production are all essential.

HEATING WITH PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS
In 2004, we installed a 4kW photovoltaic system for electricity production. We decided to make this investment, made possible with the help of regional funding, because we believe in renewable energy sources (two panels for hot water production had been installed two years previously). We consider that limiting our impact on the environment is possible and also a duty. As a business, we do everything we can and are hoping that this movement will attract support both in Italy and worldwide, just as we hope for conversion of energy sources.

WOOD-FIRED BOILER
In the same vein, in January 2005, we also installed a 33kW wood fired boiler to produce hot water for heating and sanitary purposes. The timber comes from the pruning of trees in the farm’s olive grove and woods.

RECYCLING
For 10 years we have been separating the waste produced on the farm. The organic waste from the kitchen mixed with the chopped branches is used to produce good quality compost for our plants.
